I am cross posting this from my birth board because someone suggested you ladies may have some good advice.
My husband is a fraternal twin, he and his twin look similar enough that some acquaintances mix them up. They have always had a fairly competitive/strained relationship, worse since my husband chose to be bought out of the family business. My MIL has been quite bitter as well and her tendency to make passive aggressive comments to irritate me has only gotten worse.
Lately, in public she will wait until either my husband or myself is listening, give us some side eye, then make a comment about how our LO thinks her uncle is her father. It's usually met with weird reactions from the people she says it to and not a single one has agreed with her. Getting tired of it, but maybe it's sort of a b*tch eating crackers situation now and I am too sensitive?
My LO does react a bit differently to her uncle but it's usually staring and jabbering and then she will usually scream or get mad. She has done it since about eight weeks and we think it's because he looks like dad but doesn't smell like or sound like him and it confuses her. She always has big smiles for her daddy and gets super excited and squeals and clearly responds differently to him. Would this irritate you too or am I just overly sensitive to stuff she says? Should I say something or continue to bite my tongue?
