Now that my LO is finally taking some solids, I feel like I need to address with my IL's some issues regarding food.
BG isn't really relevant in this post. ILs haven't had LO unattended at this time but they may in the near future for very short periods of time.
I don't want my ILs to feed my child food from their house because of things that I see with my nephews. My ILs feed them pasta with butter and cheese for every meal that they have them practically, never make them eat fruit or vegetables and let them eat 2-3 rolls a piece at dinner. They also let them drink diet soda and crystal light "lemonade". They don't seem to understand that DH and I are very much against artificial sweeteners and that DH's stomach gets extremely upset with those types of foods.
How do I approach it with them, that LO is not to eat anything at their house that hasn't already met our approval. If I let mil watch LO during a meal time, I plan on packing LO appropriate food and drink to last throughout the visit.
It seems a little early for this, but they have been talking about rice cereal since LO was two weeks old and when FIL found out we were feeding LO solids last week, he immediately wanted to feed him his applesauce (we hadn't introduced apples yet...or any other fruits for that matter).
My ILs have no sense of healthy, balanced meals and they think kids only eat "kid foods" and that that is alright. They are both smart, educated people but they don't get this at all.
