I need advice. My son is having his first birthday in November, and we're throwing a party. The adults in dh's family are wonderful, and one of his cousins is very sweet. However, 3 of them are rude, disrespectful, and just awful. We didn't last 15 minutes before there was a serious talk with parents and kids about personal space/respect at our last family gathering. Originally we planned not to invite that particular group, but mil let it slip. I haven't responded to the email asking about it yet.
I'm not sure if I should explain (nicely) that her children are the actual children of the corn, or lay down some ground rules. If it were just a visit, I would parade him for 10 minutes and then move to a different room where the girls aren't allowed, but since it's his birthday that's not an option. Especially if I want the behavior to stop. (I'm unicorning that dh's aunt may try to parent her children) Thoughts?
