Bridesmaid Dress

My BIL is planning to get married in June.  He's a great guy and we are thrilled that he found someone who seems to be the perfect match for him.  FSIL is a really nice person but she and I don't always see eye to eye.  While I probably wouldn't choose her to be my BFF, we get along well enough and I'm respectful of her and her decisions.

FSIL asked me to be a bridesmaid and I was honored to be asked.  I didn't anticipate the invitation and was pleasantly surprised.  I accepted.

FSIL has chosen her bridesmaid dresses.  She told us that she wanted a specific color and we could choose any dress as long as it was that color and material.  I realize that as a bridesmaid I have zero say in the dress.  It's my job to buy said dress without an opinion.

DH and I have been TTC for over a year now without much luck and decided to take a break for a few months.  While it's no one's business but our own, I explained the situation to FSIL and said that there will be a chance (fingers crossed) that I'll be pregnant at the wedding.  So to accomodate her, I bought the dress she wanted in a larger size and ordered extra material to ensure that I would be able to wear the dress.

She didn't seem happy and said that if I was going to be "knocked up", then we could buy a jersey-knit dress in said color instead of me wearing the one she picked.  At this point, it's too late, I bought the dress she told us to and it's not returnable.  I told her not to worry, I had the dress and the extra material and we'd be all set.

While it makes me sad, there's a decent chance I won't even be pregnant at the wedding.  So I figure that I'll have the dress tailored to fit me at the size that I'm at on the date.  FSIL is skeptical and afraid I'll ruin her look of the day.

My question...is it okay if I gracefully bow out of the wedding if I get pregnant.  I'll just say that i understand she has a look she wants to maintain and I'll happily support her in any way I can.
