Dealing with an ill parent

Hi everyone,

I've tried to look for an appropriate board for this question but have not found one. If you know of one please direct me there. Long time DWIL, I know this board has taught me a lot.

I got a call this morning about my dad. It was a social worker asking about him. He is under a pysch hold? He's 70, living alone, has a long history of Undiagnosed behavioral, mental problems and abuse. No friends, does not seek or feel a need for social interaction.

He is ,as the lcsw described ,in a paranoid state-thinks docs will harvest his organs, landlord is out to "get him" he has apparently purchased a gun recently. It was a lot to process but I do believe she said he turned himself in ( although I think he went to the cops to report the landlord but they picked up on his mental state).

I told the lcsw A LOT (there is so much) , and asked to please let me know if/ when they will release him because I would not put it past him to harm us.

Question 1. Will the social worker disclose that I shared this info about him ?

My sister pointed out that if they tell him this I will definitely be the target of his rage.

Question 2. Should I tell my mother? (She's another story but also has mental health issues+lupus+ my dad HATES her as she does him) they finally divorced 2 years ago.

I've talked to my sister, she feels my mother would have a panic attack, heart attack, nervous breakdown if I tell her what I was told today. I am leaning toward waiting to see if they will keep him and going from there. Of course, since I reviewed this info I am burned with the decision :-/

If you made it this far, I offer cookies and brownies. If you need more info or want to share your story I wood appreciate that too ( it's good to know *you* aren't the only ones with crazy parents)

Thanks everyone
