My rainbow baby was born Feb 4th am, but we didn't name him until the evening of the 5th. We had names narrowed down, but wanted to take our time. No one believed us until after he was born that we hadn't yet decided, so we got a lot of PA comments from MIL ("you just don't want to tell me!").
So we finally figure out the perfect name. After some time, we text our families to let them know.' We were having no visitors that night or making calls.
Not a moment later she calls him with "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" I can obviously hear her, so when she says "I'm not calling him that. I'm calling him middle name or something because I HATE that name. It was ruined for me!"
I see red.
I say to my DH "Let me talk to her!!" He says no, so I raise my voice and say "she doesn't choose what he's called. If she has a negative association with the name she can think about her GRANDSON, not whoever 'ruined it for her'! His name is not debatable!" I hear her say "what did she say?" She heard. He doesn't feel the need to repeat.
DH gets off the phone fairly quickly. I say "she better not think that was okay. You better make sure she knows that. I will call her myself." He says "she just wants attention, don't let her stress you out right now." But still, I got a text later saying "congrats on the name. It sounds nice." I BH. Later she calls and apologizes. I think DH had something to do with it....but it felt awesome losing my shit at her when normally I am very calm.
By the way, his name? James Oliver. How HORRIBLE her grandson shares a name with her coworker!
