My MIL recently left her husband for another man. The new man lives in another state, and lives about 20 minutes from SIL and her kids. Throughout the saga of MIL leaving SFIL, my point of view has consistently been that it's none of our business, and MIL deserves her own life. SIL thinks MIL is going off the deep end, and that we should intervene. I say this wouldn't make a difference, anyway.
So recently, MIL has been visiting New Guy, and on these visits she's so busy getting her freak on that she hasn't visited SIL or the grandkids. Now, I'd be pleased as punch if MIL didn't want to visit us, but I guess her daughter's feelings are hurt. The most recent visit, MIL promised her grandson she would visit, and then just stood him up. SIL says MIL's actions are impacting the family, and wants her, DH and YSIL to to some kind of intervention. I mostly think we should all MOOB, but does SIL have a point? Standing up your grandkids is shitty. Should they call MIL out? Or does MIL have the right to her own gross life?
