*** Since I originally posted, I decided my original plea for 'advice' was just the ramblings of a famished llama and have since begged fellow DWILers for Baby Name Drama stories!!
So, tell us you (or someone eleses) baby name drama... how it was handled (or the terrible FAIL) and let's keep a CBF count! :D
PS: I KNOW the general rule is not just not tell and solicit opinions. I promise. I wholly admit I wanted noms. OK confession time over, your turn. ***
Original Post below...
I am due in Dec and have picked out some more 'old world' names. I like them, my SO likes most of them.
My family is redneck (read narrow minded and named Terri, MIke, Mark, Chris etc) and SOs is fairly enmeshed (they think their opinions matter or they can bully SO into doing things because they are 7 brothers etc).
I have only told my mom so far and a few friends but am keeping most of them to myself (not because they're off the wall but because I have enough pregnancy hormones to go completely OFF on someone) but intend to share them after gender is decided or maybe even later, if I share them at all...
I anticipate some 'comments', trying to give the kid nicknames, rudeness or snide remarks etc from various family members simply because they're rude and think it's funny to do so.
I expect SOs family to have 'opinions' that they will want to air out with me and act like I'm supposed to care.
So I'm wondering what replies some fellow DWILers might have when they've had comments on names (off the wall or not) that are just downright southern belle snappy (or at least what you'd wish you said all those many times)!
Feel free to include story complete with llama noms, I'm feeding two Llamas after all!
