BIL just a step too far

My LO is 9 months... So I'm still coming to terms with being a mum. Sorry this a long one!

Anyways... In the weekend I finally snapped, my BIL was holding LO and she started to get upset, I stepped over, just as an instinct (I don't know if I was going to grab her or just get close). He moves her away from me, and starts telling me it's ok for her to cry.

I lost it. It's not the first time he has decided to tell me and my husband how to parent, but it's the first time he's put himself in between me and my LO.

I said to him (in a rather upset voice) your kid, your rules, my kid my rules. And I grabbed LO and walked outside.

I then burst into tears in front of SIL who went to her husband and I could hear him in the background saying it's not his problem/fault if I'm upset.

Now I don't know what to do.. I'm

Going to have to see BIL at family

Functions, and knowing him this is likely fuel to the fire for him. What should I do?

I probably over reacted about the situation, but I don't think I was unreasonable when you consider he literally moved my child away from me.

Anyone got any advice?
