My husband and I are young parents, our son is 4 months olds. I exclusively BF, which my mother and father in law absolutely hate. They think formula feeding is the way to go. May be for some mothers, but BF is what is best for my family! My son is teething and has been very fussy and sometimes refuses to eat. My mother insists that I'm not producing enough and that my son isn't becoming full off breast milk alone. His weight is perfect, as is his health and overall growth. My mother and FIL both keep nagging me and my husband to start our son on cereal. We decided as the parents of this poor baby that we are waiting until 6 months to introduce food. His pediatrician, my LC and my WIC worker all agree that if I want to wait that it's perfectly okay. I've told them that all the doctors say to wait but they won't leave the subject alone. It's so annoying! My mother tries to make me feel ashamed, telling me my son is starving because I won't introduce cereal. It's driving us crazy having to hear their unsolicited advice over and over after telling them firmly what our plans are. They were parents of newborns 20 years ago, times have changed!! Wish they would just see that we are happy and comfortable with the way we are choosing to raise our baby.
