My ILs came over last night, and for the most part, they were okay. I am so totally BEC with them though, so I think the fact that they left with their asses attached to their bodies and not in their hands is a good thing.
On to the current topic and a disclaimer: I am not a pet person, not at all, not even a little bit. DH knows this, ILs know this. I barely tolerate other people's pets, and will avoid situations where pets are present and just roaming around. I do not expect special treatment from people, I make my own choices. That being said, LO goes to daycare at a home that has three dogs, I am totally fine with that. I don't have to deal with them or be around them for very long, so it doesn't matter. I also understand that people regard their pets as part of their family, and respect that, even if I don't necessarily "get it".
This is what grinds my gears: ILs kept comparing LO to their dog. "Oh, LO has a bedtime routine? We should do that with the dog!" "We take the dog for a walk every evening too! How funny that they are the same!" "We let the dog whine in its crate for awhile if it starts fussing and she calms down, you should do that with LO in her crib". All said with great enthusiasm.
Can someone please explain this to me?!
