Fil's reaction to dh defending me!!

So, dh finally defended me to his father from Mother's Day. Basically, on Mother's Day I planned a nice day for everyone and his father used it as an opportunity to try to get dh to call his brother that we are currently estranged from. We said hundreds of times previous to that day that dh would talk to his bro if his bro apologized to us. Basically, bro'd wife said horrific things to us and he did nothing to stop her or help us. Anyway, his father had been relentless about this since it happened in oct. Well, dh called his father in front of me to say please don't bring them up in front of My wife and I. His dad's response was that he never did that. He never gets involved. My dh enforced, " you did. Please stop." Fil's next response, "your wife is using this as an excuse to attack me."


I am furious. He constantly disregards my feelings and boundaries, yet if I defend myself, I am attacking him. I don't know how to deal with this. My fil truly believes I attack him.
