I live in a different state from my family and the same town as my in laws. I'm 33 weeks with my first baby and first grand baby to my parents and in laws. Recently my mil has become very controling and always referring to my baby as "our baby" (her family's) and my husbands baby. Never my baby. She ended up taking over my baby shower instead of helping my friend plan it and didn't do any of it how I wanted it. I only knew about 5 people there other than family (everyone was friends of hers), the colors were all what she wanted, she even went thru some of the gifts before I got there, her gift and card were specifically to 'her peanut' and not me, her and her parents even got car seat bases for all their cars. And to top the day off, her and her parents decided to bring the gifts to my house and go in without our permission. All the way thru my place and into the room my mom and sisters were staying in. She has done a lot of nice things for us that I appreciate but it definitely seems like she thinks that means she should decide everything about 'her' baby. I don't like confrontation and I don't want to make issues, but I am getting so frustrated with her thinking she can control everything and trying to make my baby hers. She is also always bringing up how we won't tell her the name we like even though we haven't told anyone.. I'm so nervous and stressed about what she will be like during and after the baby is born. Anyone else having/had a similar issue?
