I can't believe I lost sleep over this. Probably very standard and just looking to commiserate on my misery. I don't know how to not let her get under my skin. MIL is bossy, contradicting and hovering. My husband and I have talked to her about it but she will not change. I really do believe she tries and has no clue how she is coming across (she is 75). She is good to kids and in a tight knit family, there are scenarios I can not avoid contact with her.
Examples:
If I ask toddler not to do something MIL says 'she's ok' contradicting me.
She directs everything 'fix her pants', 'you need to leave for your appointment', 'you should do this today'
Oh, and tells me what to do talking to the baby 'Tell mummy to get you a sweater'
I just find her really annoying! She is making me not enjoy her company. Anyone else?!?! I know I am not alone!!
