How often do you let MIL visit?

I know there are plenty of grandparents that show absolutely no interest.  I really do sympathize.  My own father gives me no attention so I get it.

Anyway, MIL is friendly enough.  When she comes over she basically only talks to Fiona (my LO) even when I am addressing her about how Fiona is doing and her latest happenings.  I feel like she basically only came to see Fi and that is it.  Granted MIL has 3 brothers and she was the only girl so she's not very emotional.  She went on to have 2 sons so again no girls in her life.

Before Fi was born my DH  said MIL would be here 3 times a week minimum.  I'm a SAHM by the way.  Not sure that it matters but wanted to mention that.  I told him I thought once a week was enough and if other things popped up it would obviously be more (trip to the zoo, holiday, etc).

Am I mean for only wanting once a week?  I don't have a close family aside from my sister so I always wonder if it's just my reacting from childhood or if it's a reasonable request to only want one day a week.  I'm sure I would feel different if she and I really connected.

There are other things that irk me about her but nothing too major.  Maybe I will reference them as the post goes on.

Oh and when she visits, she wants to leave with LO to the backyard so they can be alone or somewhere else where they are alone so they have no interaction with me.  I hate it.  It makes me feel invisible!!!

Anyway, I welcome all comments!
