I want to ask v if my dad giving me money every now and then deserves some forgiveness and shows his greatness in some way. A friend keeps reminding me how my dad gave me money everytime I went to India. I think I am going to ask her to stop speaking with me about them.
Like I said earlier my parents are well off my dads a doctor and doing good. He used to give $300-400 for personal shopping and he even gave us ticket money on some occasions for travel within India from my city to my husbands city.
I will add that we never expected or wanted any money from them.
He gave us 1500 this time when my son was born and a 2000 when my husband was studying for his mba here as a gift. My friend knows all this as shes a longtime friend but she never understands how crazy they are.
My brothers also have given me $ 1000 each for my sons birth.
We are doing well but at one point we did feel the pinch when my husband had a one lac $ loan for his mba and we were students.
My in laws on the other hand arent well to do and they give what they can and we give them what we can. We even get gifts for my parents all the time.
In our culture this is very very common.
She guilts me many times into this money thing because her own inlaws are crazy and never gift her anything but shower her husbands sister with gold, money, gifts etc.
